Thomas Kimball was born in 1633 to parents Richard Kimball and Ursula Scott (see blog post dated Nov. 25th). He was one year old when he came to New England on the ship "Elizabeth" with his parents and siblings. He lived with his family, first in Watertown, then Ipswich.

Sometime after 1661, Thomas, Mary, and family moved to a part of Rowley, Massachusetts known then as Merrimac, but today is the town of Bradford. Thomas was a mechanic and a farmer. He owned over 400 acres of land, and was elected constable in 1669.
From 1675 to 1678, King Phillip's War overtook the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay Colonies. On the night of May 2, 1676, three Native Americans broke into the Kimball home. They killed Thomas, and took Mary and the five children still living at home captive. After forty-one days in captivity, Mary and the children were released. They returned home to a ransacked home on June 13, 1676.
In September 1676, Mary brought a detailed inventory of property, outstanding debts, and payments due to the Essex County Court. After all payments were made and debts collected, the estate of Thomas Kimball was valued at 520 British Pounds. The court awarded the eldest son, Richard, 80 pounds, 40 pounds to each of the surviving children, and the remainder to Mary.
Mary died on November 20, 1688.
It is not known where either Thomas or Mary are buried.
