Francis Peabody, Farmer and Town Clerk, Founder of Hampton and Topsfield Family Connection - 8th great-grandfather of Edward Elihu Hazen, Jr. Francis Peabody was born in England in about 1613. In 1635, he was a passenger on the ship "Planter" and immigrated to Massachusetts. He first settled in Ipswich. By 1639, he was one of the founding settlers of Hampton, New Hampshire, part of the group led by Stephen Bachiler. He was a member of the church in Hampton, and was named Freeman in 1642.
