The first record of him is in 1635, on the manifest for the ship Christian, where he was listed as being 20 years old. On March 28, 1637, he was apprenticed to Francis Stiles of Windsor, Connecticut. George and Francis are both listed on the Founder's Monument in Windsor. In 1637, George Chappell most likely participated in the Battle of Mystick Fort, the attack on the Pequot Native American tribe, where 400-700 Pequots were killed by a group of colonists led by John Mason of Windsor.
