George Chappell, Carpenter Family Connection - 9th great-grandfather of Roy Ellsworth Stricker Founder's Monument, Windsor, Connecticut George Chappell was born in about 1615 in England. The first record of him is in 1635, on the manifest for the ship Christian, where he was listed as being 20 years old. On March 28, 1637, he was apprenticed to Francis Stiles of Windsor, Connecticut. George and Francis are both listed on the Founder's Monument in Windsor.  In 1637, George Chappell most likely participated in the Battle of Mystick Fort, the attack on the Pequot Native American tribe, where 400-700 Pequots were killed by a group of colonists led by John Mason of Windsor.  By 1642, George moved to the town of Wethersfield, Connecticut and married Christian, family name unknown. Jeremy Adams, Innkeeper Family Connection - 8th great-grandfather of Edward Elihu Hazen Map of Hartford, Connecticut in 1640 Jeremy Adams was born in England in 1604. He migrated to Massachusetts in 1633 and settled in Cambridge. He was part of  Rev. Thomas Hooker's congregation, and was named Freeman on May 6, 1635.  In 1636, Hooker lead one hundred members of his congregation on a two week overland journey to found the town of Hartford, Connecticut. At some unknown date, he joined the other Puritan separatists in Leiden, Netherlands. He married  Isabella Chilton there on July 21, 1615. Isabella Chilton was the daughter of Mayflower passenger James Chilton and his wife, who both died shortly after the Mayflower arrived in Plymouth in 1621.
