Augustus Storrs was born to parents Joseph Storrs and Experience Gurly Storrs on December 18, 1762 in Mansfield, Tolland County, Connecticut. His parents continued to live in Connecticut, but sometime before 1780, Augustus moved to Hanover, New Hampshire.
In July of 1780, at the age of 17, Augustus enlisted in the 1st New Hampshire Regiment commanded by Col. Stark, in the company commanded by Capt. Reed. He served for six months, mostly in New York.
In July 1781, he enlisted again, this time in the 3rd New Hampshire Regiment. He served for a year, again mostly stationed in New York.
On March 6, 1788, Augustus married Emma Anna Forbes. They had eleven children:

When the Revolutionary War Pension act of 1832 was passed by Congress, soldiers like Augustus became eligible for a pension based on their service in state militias. Prior to 1832, the only Revolutionary War soldiers eligible for a pension were Continental Army members.
Augustus applied for and received a pension of $54.45/year beginning on May 10, 1834. He collected three years of his pension before his death. Since he and his wife Emma Anna were not married at the time of his military service, she was not eligible to receive his pension after his death.
Augustus Storrs died on August 7, 1838. He was buried in Hanover Center Cemetery. His wife died in 1847 and was buried next to him.
