Solomon Hazen was born on Nov. 25, 1759 in Woodbury, Connecticut to parents Thomas Hazen and Ann Tenney Hazen. Thomas is profiled in the blog post dated Dec. 8th.
He moved to Hartford, Vermont with his parents and most of his siblings sometime around 1774.
In 1777, he enlisted in his brother Joshua's Company, Col. Peter Olcott's Regiment of the Vermont Militia. In August 1777, they marched to Saratoga. Solomon served until Burgoyne's surrender on Nov. 15, 1777.
He served in his brother's Company again from June 12, 1778 to September 23, 1778. In 1780, he joined Col. John Wood's Regiment which marched to Brookfield in October 1780, serving for three days.
When he returned home, he married Theodora Pease on Dec. 17, 1780 in Hartford. The had nine children.

Solomon and his family lived in an area of Hartford called Dothan. He and his wife were members of the Dothan Church. He was a farmer.
Solomon's wife Theodora died on May 21, 1824. He married Sarah Sage Kilburn on Oct. 19, 1824.
Solomon died in Hartford, Vermont on July 26, 1849. He was buried in the Christian Street Cemetery in Hartford.
